Top 5 Pet Poisons Lurking in Your Purse

Here are 5 things your dog should never eat, and many of them just might be found in your purse. Keep those satchels zipped if you transport any of the following:

1. Sugarless gum or mints: xylitol is a sweetener that is toxic to dogs. If your dog does ingest some, get him/her to the vet ASAP.

2. Human medications--Tylenol, Advil or any of the over the counter painkillers that we might carry with us. A dog can gnaw through those pill bottles pretty quickly and are attracted to the shake, rattle and roll aspect of what seems to be a great toy. Again a trip to the vet is crucial if you find a gnawed bottle.

3. Asthma inhalers--this one is my purse and I never knew it could be life threatening to pets. Paws off!

4. Cigarettes--goes without saying but you shouldn't have these anyway. Toxic to everyone.

5. Hand sanitizer. Again, always in my bag but the alcohol can be deadly to pets.
